Originally settled in 1910 as part of the U.S. Government’s Homestead Act by Mr. And Mrs. George Bruegman, the Diamond B is where Mr. Bruegman spent his time in the saddle, caring for his 1,200 head of sheep, 300 cattle and 200 horses. Included in this buy:
- A harness shed where Mr. Bruegman cut straps from leather sides, hand-sewing and oiling them to soften the leather, making his own halters, bridles and bucking rigs.
- The rock barn, with the original stanchion where his big Belgian horses were fed and brushed at the end of a long day’s work, another where the milk cow was kept, plus a loft for the winter’s supply of hay/straw.
- A low chicken coop/machinery shed, for storage.
- Perhaps the most charming building of all, the huge red barn/dance hall. The lower floor probably housed his many carriages and chuck wagons for the annual Cheyenne Frontier Days, while the upper floor still echoes with the music and good times that were had!
- The Ranch house was originally moved onto the ranch from Burns, Wyoming by a horse trailer and eight-horse team. It’s 1,400 sq ft, with a full basement. Our Developer has remodeled the home, installing new kitchen cupboards and appliances, and updating the bathroom, creating a very comfortable residence with modern amenities.
- Various corrals of different sizes are found throughout the property.
- A rodeo arena was built on the ranch and used by college students at Laramie County Community College. Although the arena is now gone the white announcer’s stand is still standing.
With the variety of outbuildings on the property your imagination is the limit: a horse motel with RV hook ups, horse trails through the scenic draws behind the house, bed & breakfast, and/or private residence.
Don’t miss this chance to own a piece of Wyoming’s history!
